IT’S CHRISTMAS!
The week leading up to Christmas was always my favorite growing up.
It still is!
Preparing (mentally and physically) for every dish about to be consumed the next 4-6 days. The plans made when family comes into town, or you yourself traveling to see family.
The potential conversations, the quiet mornings, the goofy moments where your sides hurt and your cheeks burn from laughing too hard.
Frantically riding my bike to my Siti & Gido’s when we heard cousins were in town for the holidays, wishing I wore something warmer when the wind blew. Fighting with Amanda (love you!!). Sneaking extra crackle cookies and ma’amoul.
Celebrating Gido’s birthday with new shoes, cashews, and a German chocolate cake no one could ever finish.
The warm feeling of pride and love I felt the years I got to make his cake in my teen years.
And as traditions shift and people go, I’m still filled with that same, warm, eager excitement the week of Christmas.
Despite now being like, a working adult and not having “Christmas break”
But here we are!
Still celebrating, still here.
Happy Holidays!
With Love,
Cara
Love this, Santa’s coming-I know him!
