I’m getting into scary waters by bringing up the actor world here.
I do my best to keep this Substack and my other work separate (minus my Instagram, that’s free game), but sometimes the two worlds weave into each other and it’s unavoidable!
The “post-audition treat” is a prime example.
It’s self-explanatory, but the post-audition treat is just as it sounds—a silly treat (more likely a dessert, but pick your poison) after your audition.
It’s like a reward!
Whether that’s coffee, takeout, or a delicious pastry, the post-audition treat has become a well-known habit in my generation of actors, and I am HERE for it!
The actress charging the recent post-audition treat path is Cara Rose Depetrio, a New York-based actress and influencer who fights for ED awareness within the arts industry and shares her life one reel at a time.
I’m a big fan of hers, not just because we have the same name, height, and career but because of how open she is about a struggle so many actors fall into (sometimes without even knowing!).
Normalizing rewarding your tenacity, showing up for yourself, and sharing your artistry provides a new space for giving yourself grace and gratification in your work.
For Example,
I had a chocolate chip cookie after a singer call on Thursday.
I go to Cafe Lili after auditions on the west side.
When I submit a self-tape, I get a coffee or make time to bake.
They’re little actions with great rewards, and I’m excited for (hopefully) more auditions and more treats!
With Love,
Cara
